Institutional Scholarships are scholarships that come from the college or university. A lot of money can come from here, but many students don't take advantage of them. Below are instructions for applying to scholarships for colleges in Colorado. If you're applying out-of-state colleges, visit their scholarship pages to apply!

First, students need to read through the list of scholarships, and then indicate on the form which scholarships they are applying to. - You must be admitted to Adams State before you can apply for scholarships. Demonstrated financial need will be determined from the FAFSA. Adams State has many institutional scholarships that can be applied for individually, and they are due March 1st.

- On the right side of the page, click “Financial Aid,” then click on “Scholarships.”
- Click on “Featured Scholarships”.
- Click on “Scholarship Guide.” Read through scholarships and make a list of which you are eligible for.
- Click on “Foundation Scholarship Application” to get the application form. One form must be submitted for each institutional scholarship application, along with any supplemental materials that the scholarship requires.

- Most scholarships are due Feb. 28th. Students must be admitted before they apply. Minimum GPA is a 2.0. Students with a 3.0 or higher can also apply for the Aims Opportunity Scholarship.

- Most scholarships are awarded through the admissions and financial aid process and do not have a separate application. Note – both FAFSA and CSS Profile are required.
- The only scholarships with a separate application are the Barnes Scholarships for Chemistry and Mathematics. See link here. Students must apply by January 5th.

- CMU now also offers an all-in-one scholarship application for general and departmental scholarships. Log in to MAVzone to apply for scholarships. Applications for scholarships will be accepted through December 31st

Colorado Mountain College - link to scholarship webpage
- Colorado Mountain College has a general scholarship application that requires a transcript, the names and email addresses of two references, and page one of the FAFSA, SAR, or most recent tax return. All required documents are due March 1st.

- CNCC has a list of scholarships with separate applications. FAFSA required. You must have a 3.0 GPA to apply.

- Your Application for Admission serves as your application for scholarships. There is no separate scholarship application. All prospective freshmen who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents and are admitted by February 1st will be considered. Your high school unweighted GPA and composite test scores from either the ACT or SAT will be used for scholarship consideration.

- To apply for scholarships offered by Student Financial Services and your academic college, complete the CSU Scholarship Application (CSUSA). The CSUSA is available at www.ramweb.colostate.edu beginning December 1, and the application deadline is March 1. To be considered for need-based awards, the FAFSA must also be submitted by February 15th.

- No additional application is required.
- Foundation Scholarships – Students can apply for foundation scholarships as well as institutional grants by completing the CSU-Pueblo Scholarship Application by March 1st each year. In order to apply, students must already be admitted and access the application through their PAWS account.

- CCA foundation scholarships can be accessed through a single application. All CCA Foundation Scholarships require that you submit an essay discussing your academic goals and two letters of recommendation from individuals who can speak to your academic potential. Completing the FAFSA is required.

- CCD has a general scholarship application that allows students to apply for all their scholarships. To qualify for scholarships, students must complete the FAFSA. Deadline for scholarships is April 15th. You may apply after that date, but scholarships are then awarded on a first come, first serve basis.

- Students must be admitted, and complete the FAFSA. The general scholarship application requires a one page essay describing your financial need, educational and career goals, and how you would benefit from the scholarship. Scholarships are considered on a rolling basis.

- There is no single, general scholarship application so students will need to review links to choose scholarship options to apply for. Look through departmental awards to find scholarships specific to your major, apply for the “Finish in Four” scholarship (opens Jan. 1st), and also complete the “Foundation Scholarship Application.” Note the Foundation Scholarship Application opens in December and is due Feb. 1st.

- MSU Denver offers hundreds of scholarships to students every year, based on academics, achievement and financial need. Students must have at least a 2.5 GPA. FAFSA required for need-based scholarship consideration. Priority Deadline: March 1st.

- NJC has a “Freshman General Scholarship” that puts students in the running for numerous scholarships. Opens in December, and due March 1st.

- Trinidad offers several scholarships with separate applications due at various deadlines

University of Colorado at Boulder- link to scholarship webpage
- Institutional scholarships are provided to CU-Boulder through gifts from corporations, foundations and individual donors. While the donors specify the award criteria, the selection of recipients is made by the appropriate college, school, or department within CU-Boulder. You can apply for CU-Boulder scholarships before you have been admitted.
- You can access information on CU-Boulder scholarships at the Office of Financial Aid's Scholarship Services site.
- When to Apply: Complete and submit the application, which becomes available October 1 to February 15 each year. Some scholarships have earlier deadlines. If you apply for scholarships that have a financial need requirement, your FAFSA results must also be on file no later than February 15th
- How to Apply: Go to www.mycuboulder.colorado.edu. You'll need to log into your MyCUBoulder account and navigate to the “Finances” tab. The link to the scholarship application is at the bottom of the page.
- Be aware - not all scholarships are listed on through the MyCUBoulder account. There are also separate scholarships you can apply for through the college and department specific to your major. Check the webpage for your college or department to find any scholarships applicable for you.

University of Colorado at Colorado Springs – link to scholarship webpage
- UCCS offers a general scholarship application through goUCCS. From www.uccs.edu, click on “Admissions” and scroll down and click on “Financial Aid.” Then, scroll down, and click on “Financial Aid at UCCS.”
- Click on “Types of Aid” -> “Scholarships” -> “Scholarship Application.”
- Incoming students: Log into goUCCS.
- Your login and password are sent to you in two separate emails after you apply for admission. You can apply for these scholarships after you are admitted. The scholarships you see are based upon your GPA on your official transcript(s). If no scholarships appear, it’s possible your transcript has not been received or processed. Allow approximately two weeks for this processing to occur and contact the Admissions Office for transcript specific questions. Contact the scholarship office for any other questions or concerns.
- The general scholarship application opens on December 1st. The deadline for most merit scholarships is February 1st and the deadline for need-based scholarships is March 1st.

The majority of the scholarships can be applied for through the online application which opens December 1st with a due date of April 1st. To apply for available scholarships for NEW/PROSPECTIVE students:
- Apply for scholarships through your student portal. To log in to the portal, you will need to register for a temporary student ID. This can be done by going to http://ucdenver.edu/myucdenver and click on the “Need Help?” link at the top of the page. Under the "Prospective Students" tab, you'll want to click the "Please register" link and proceed to fill out the application.
- Once you create an account, you will receive two email messages. One will contain your username and the other your password, which you will use to login to the My UCDenver prospective student portal.
- If you already have an account, but have forgotten your password or username, click on the “Forgot your password?” link, which will direct you to the password reset form. Please be sure the information you provide is the same as it was when you originally registered for an account.
- Once you are in the portal, look under the “Student Tab,” and click on “Scholarships,” then “Apply for Scholarships.” Click “2017” which is the 2016-17 financial aid year.
- Answer both questions, and then click, “Continue to Page Two”.
- From there, you will see the individual scholarships you can apply to. Follow the instructions to apply for each one.

- All scholarships listed through DU’s search engine require a separate application. You will be notified in your admission letter if you have been awarded any merit scholarships. Note - both FAFSA and CSS Profile are required.

University of Northern Colorado – link to scholarship webpage
- UNC offers a variety of scholarships and uses the information students provide on their admissions application and high school transcripts to determine eligibility for merit scholarships. Students who want to apply for scholarships offered through the UNC Foundation, the UNC Universal Scholarship Application is available online in URSA. Incoming freshman are encouraged to apply for admission by February 1 to receive maximum consideration, although the deadline is March 1st.
- How to apply: Students must log in to their URSA account to access the scholarship application. To get to URSA from www.unco.edu, hover over “For You,” and then click on “Current Students.” Scroll down, and on left side, click on “URSA.”
- To log into URSA, you will need your Bear Number. If you have trouble logging into URSA, contact the help desk at 970-351-4357.
- Additionally, talent scholarships are offered at the discretion of the art, music, theater, and athletics departments. Students should contact these departments directly.

∙ Students can apply for most scholarships by using the “Common Scholarship Application,” due April 1st. First, students need to read through the list of scholarships, and then indicate on the form which scholarships they are applying to. Along with the common application scholarship form, students need to submit:
- An essay indicating why you are a good candidate for scholarship awards.
- A list of scholarships for which you are applying. For each scholarship listed, you should include a short paragraph addressing how you meet criteria specific to that scholarship.
- How to apply: From www.western.edu, place your cursor on “Future Students,” then click on “Financing Your Education” from the dropdown menu.
- From the grey navigation menu on the left, click on “Scholarships.”
- Click on “Incoming Freshmen who are Colorado Residents.”
- Scroll down to “Separate Application Scholarships.”
- Click on the ‘+’ to the right of each scholarship name. This will open a description of each scholarship including criteria and application instructions. Look for scholarships where you meet the criteria. There is a link to the “Common Scholarship Application” in the description of each scholarship that will accept the Common Application. Read instructions carefully.
